Transcript FAQs

What is a transcript?

A transcript is an official record of all UW–Stevens Point courses you’ve taken, the grades you earned, and your semester and cumulative GPAs. It also lists any degrees, majors, and minors you’ve completed.

What is the difference between an official and an unofficial transcript (Academic History Report)?

An official transcript is printed on secure paper, signed by the registrar, and must be sent directly from UWSP to the receiving school or employer. Some organizations will accept it if the student submits it in a sealed, unopened envelope.

An unofficial transcript does not have these security features and is easier to alter, so it’s generally used only for personal reference.

What is “Parchment”?

Parchment is our official partner for online transcript requests. While the Office of the Registrar maintains student records, requests are submitted through Parchment’s website.

How do I order an official transcript?
  • Alumni and former students can order official transcripts—either paper or electronic PDF—through Parchment.
  • Current students can access Parchment by selecting ‘Order Transcript’ in the Academic Records tile in accesSPoint. Both electronic and paper options are available, and a credit card is required.
I no longer have my password to accesSPoint. How do I order a transcript?

If you’re not a current student, you can order your official transcript directly through Parchment—no accesSPoint login needed.

How do I order an electronic (pdf) transcript?

You can order an official electronic transcript through Parchment. It will be delivered as a secure PDF and can be sent to you, another school, or any third party.

If I want a transcript sent by Fed Ex, can it be done?

Yes. You can choose FedEx delivery when ordering through Parchment for an additional fee. FedEx cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes, so be sure to provide a street address. Parchment will send you a tracking number.

How can I get a copy of my unofficial transcripts (Academic History Report)?
  • You can get an Academic History Report free of charge by coming in to the Office of the Registrar (171 SRC). A photo ID will be required.
  • If you are a current student, you can print an Academic History Report from the Academic Records tile in accesSPoint.
If I submit my Academic History Report and the receiving party will not accept it, do I have to put in a request to have an official copy mailed?

Yes, an official transcript will need to be ordered through Parchment.

Note: Educational institutions require official transcripts and will not accept unofficial transcripts.

Can an official transcript be mailed directly to a student?

Yes, however, it does say “Issued to the Student” on the transcript and may be treated as an unofficial copy by other parties.

Can I pick up a copy of my transcript on campus?

Yes. Place your order online and select pickup at the Office of the Registrar during the ordering process. Transcripts will be held for one month, after which they will be mailed to your home address on file.

If I am picking up my transcript from the Office of the Registar (171 SRC), what will I need?

You will need a photo ID.

Can I have someone else pick up my transcript for me?

Yes, but you will have to specify that in the comments at the time the transcripts are ordered. The person picking it up will need to have a photo ID.

How long does it take for a transcript to be sent once the request is received?

Generally, transcripts will be mailed one to two business days after receiving your request.

If I mark “hold for grades,” how long will it take for the transcript request to be processed?

Normally, transcripts that are marked “hold for grades” are sent within 10 days after the last day of finals.

If I mark “hold for degree,” when will the transcript request be processed?

Your degree will be posted once all of your grades have been submitted and everything on your DPR is Satisfied.  The transcript request will be processed 1 – 2 business days after that.

Will my transcript show my GPA in my major or minor?

No. Major and minor GPAs are not listed on transcripts. You may request this information from the Office of the Registrar or view it in your DPR in accesSPoint if you are a current student.

Does a transcript show courses and grades taken at other schools?

No. Transcripts do not list individual courses or grades from other institutions. They show only the school name and the total number of transfer credits awarded.

What if the address for where the transcripts are being sent is too long for the space provided?

If the address does not fit, try converting from 5 lines to 4.
