GROUP VISITS

We are pleased you would like to bring a group to visit UW-Stevens Point.

Please email us at least two weeks prior to the anticipated visit date and our office will work with you to confirm your arrival. *All group visit requests are at the discretion and availability of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

Orientation

We are very happy that you have joined our university community! You will find UW-Stevens Point offers many programs designed to provide opportunities and activities to foster self-discovery and responsibility, encourage diverse university connections and promote the development of your personal educational goals.

Orientation Registration (Beginning March 7, 2023 for Fall 2023):

Register for Orientation

  •  In-person Orientation sessions begin in late May/early June.

Activate your account and email

  • Student ID number is required, located on your acceptance letter. (This is your official log on for all UWSP accounts)
    Information Technology: 715-346-4357, itsvdesk@uwsp.edu
  • Continue to monitor your UWSP email moving forward.
  • During this process your unique UWSP logon ID will be displayed for you. After activation, please remember your logon name.
  • Student logon names are typically the first letter of your first name followed by the first 4 letters of your last name followed by the last 3 digits of your student ID number followed by “@uwsp.edu”. (Example Stevie Pointer, 11254111 = spoin111@uwsp.edu). In a few cases, characters in Student logon names are changed from this pattern to insure a unique logon name.

Accept your admission

  • Click “Accept” in the Admission Tile to guarantee your spot! This also allows your adviser to know you’re ready to take sign up for virtual academic advising and registration.

(Sign-up for classes, must have active UWSP email)

  • You will not receive access to schedule an appointment until you accept your admission – see above.
  • Check your UWSP email for a link from your adviser schedule an appointment. Appointments begin in late May.
  • Please contact our Academic and Career Advising Center at 715-346-3226 or acac@uwsp.edu if you need assistance scheduling.
  • Report your college courses and AP/IB credit
  • Your adviser will benefit from knowing any possible college credit you may have earned while in high school, through college/university courses, dual enrollment or credit by exam (AP/IB/CAPP). The advising invitation you receive will have access to an online reporting form. Please complete it as soon as possible – even if you don’t have test scores back yet. The more information your adviser has about your previous/possible college credit, the better advice they can provide for your first semester in college.

Register and take the UW System Placement Exams

  • All first-year students are required to take both math and English placement tests. World language placement tests are optional (French, Spanish or German).
  • You should use your UWSP login information to sign up.
  • Testing must be completed at least two weeks before your virtual academic advising and registration appointment. Please see the testing services website for retake options.
  • After you register, you should receive an email from “regionaltesting@exams.wisc.edu” titled “regional testing registration confirmation” with information on how to complete the tests virtually.

Transfer/Non-traditional Orientation 

  • ALL new transfer and non-traditional students are required to attend an online or in-person orientation session.
  • Online orientation includes a remote advising session, instructions on how and when you will register for or adjust your classes, an opportunity to submit your PointCard photo, and learn about student services.
  • In-person orientation allows you to meet other transfer and non-traditional students, hear from campus resources, and receive your university ID (PointCard). The date for in-person orientation is Wednesday, August 31st.

Transfer and Non-Traditional Orientation is open to the following students:

  • Students who have completed college credit post-high school graduation
  • Students over the age of 21

Orientation Registration:

  • Activate your UWSP Account (if you haven’t done so already).
    • Use your student ID number found on your acceptance letter.
  • Register for in-person orientation on August 31st by using this link.

Continue to monitor your UWSP email regarding next steps and advising notifications.

Once completed, students will receive an email to their UW-Stevens Point email account, from the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, with instructions and next steps for academic advising and course registration.
