The information on this page is intended for current UWSP students preparing to register for an upcoming term. Incoming first‑year and transfer students will receive academic advising and course registration guidance directly from the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at the appropriate time.
Before You Enroll
All current students are required to meet with their academic advisor before registering for courses. Your advisor’s name can be found in accesSPoint by selecting the Profile tile and then Advisors. Each academic department follows its own advising schedule, and advisors will contact students when their department’s advising period begins.
View UWSP Advising PolicyScheduling Your Advising Appointment
Advising appointments should be scheduled well in advance of your registration date and time. An advising appointment is a meeting with your advisor to discuss course planning, degree progress, and questions related to your academic path. You can find your assigned registration appointment in accesSPoint:
- Select the My Classes tile on your homepage.
- Click Registration Dates and choose the correct term.
- Your assigned date and time will appear under the Enrollment Appointments section.
Your enrollment appointment is the official date and time when you may begin enrolling in courses.
Preparing for Your Advising Appointment
Preparing ahead of time is an important part of the advising process. To support a productive conversation:
- Review your Degree Progress Report (DPR) thoroughly in accesSPoint.
- Select possible courses for the upcoming term.
- Bring two copies of your DPR—one for yourself and one for your advisor.
During your appointment, you and your advisor will work together to update or correct any approved DPR exceptions or substitutions from your major or minor department.
After Your Appointment
Once you meet with your advisor, your advising hold will be removed, allowing you to register for courses on your assigned enrollment date. Advising holds are required for fall and spring terms only. Advising is not required for winterim or summer sessions.
If your department has confirmed that a requirement will be satisfied through previous coursework, your advisor must submit the appropriate exception paperwork.
