The primary goal is the protection of the University, its occupants, and the surrounding community. University Police operate in a full law enforcement capacity. Police and Security Services enjoy a close working relationship with the Stevens Point Police Department. Whenever possible, contact Police and Security Services for any University problems before the Stevens Point Police Department.

UWSP Police and Security Services Jurisdiction
University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Police and Security Services Police Officers have the statutory authority and responsibility to investigate violations of state criminal and traffic laws, as well as rules of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents. The department’s jurisdictional authority is limited to all property owned by or under the control of UW Stevens Point, including a portion of any public road or highway passing through and immediately adjacent to it. Police and Security Services is the agency of record and is responsible for the investigation of all criminal complaints originating on campus.
The authority, responsibility, and required training of Police and Security Services Police Officers is the same as all other police officers in the State of Wisconsin. All Police and Security Services Police Officers are certified by the Wisconsin Department of Justice and complete continual ongoing training to maintain this certification.
