Collins Classroom Center (CCC) Update

Fall 2026 Scheduling Information

The Fall 2026 Schedule of Classes will be the first schedule without the Collins Classroom Center during the Sentry Hall project.

Classroom Reductions

  • Collins Classroom Center offline reduces our classroom capacity by 18 rooms compared to Spring 2026.
  • Includes a reduction of 5 classrooms with capacities of 90 students or more (36%).

Temporary Additional Classrooms Added

  • CBB 271 (18 students)
  • Library & Student Resource Center – 3rd Floor West (30 students)
  • Library & Student Resource Center – 1st Floor Meeting Space (24 students)

Lecture Hall Utilization

  • 9 classrooms remain on campus with capacities of over 90 students
    • TNR 170 (244 students)
    • NFAC 221 (172 students)
    • SCI D101 and D102 (150 students each)
    • CPS 116 (126 students)
    • TNR 120 (106 students)
    • CBB 101 and 105 (96 students each)
    • CAC 333 (95 students)
  • Priority will be given to classes that have historically been taught in those spaces, if the size of the class continues to warrant the space.
  • Classes that have historically been scheduled in these spaces that no longer warrant this size classroom should be scheduled in a smaller classroom or left unassigned to be assigned to a classroom through the room optimization process.

Fall Schedule Simulations

  • Two schedule simulations were run this summer by the Office of the Registrar, using Fall 2025 class data without CCC rooms to build a mock Fall 26 schedule. Both simulations resulted in approximately 40 classes not being placed in classrooms.
    • 3 classes were too large for future available rooms (HD 265, NRES 151 lecture, NRES 250 lecture)
    • 26 classes (66%) were classes scheduled during T/R grid times:
      • 10 classes from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
      • 9 classes from 11-12:15 p.m.
      • 2 classes from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
      • 5 classes from 2-3:15 p.m.
    • Relocating some T/R courses to other times on the grid will be necessary. Consider grid times with more capacity:
      • T/R from 8-9:15 a.m.
      • T/R from 3:30-4:45 p.m.
      • M/W from 3:30-4:45 p.m.
      • M/W/F anytime other than 10 – 11:50 a.m.

Help ensure a successful Fall schedule

  • Keep classes on the course grid as often as possible.
  • Use the course grid – don’t schedule all your classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:30-3:15.
  • If you need a specific classroom setup or specialized equipment, request a classroom that will meet your needs. If you require a computer lab, lecture capture, or distance education set up, use the “Special Room Characteristic Requests” column on the SoC submission spreadsheet. We will do our best to place classes in classrooms that best utilize the classroom space and setup.
  • Expect the schedule to look different than in years past. Some additional travel between buildings should be expected. Your flexibility is appreciated. Room change requests will be more difficult to accommodate than they have been previously due to a lack of space.

Schedule of Classes Q & A Sessions
