Special Event Use

Schmeeckle Reserve is an increasingly popular place for runs, walks, biking events, memorial services, weddings, and other special events. Because Schmeeckle is part of the UW-Stevens Point campus, all group events must be approved by the university prior to the event taking place. This includes all group events that use trails or other spaces in Schmeeckle, even if the majority of the event takes place elsewhere (such as a run/walk event throughout the city). The Special Event Use form below is the first step to request an event

Note that not all events will be approved. Events must fit within the mission priorities of Schmeeckle Reserve (preservation, education, and recreation). And they cannot detract from the experience of other visitors.

Outside groups will need to sign a Facility Use Agreement and obtain specific event insurance coverage as required by the University of Wisconsin System.

Reservable Facility Events

Events that take place entirely within one of Schmeeckle’s reservable facilities are typically covered by those rental agreements. This includes events that take place in the Pankowski Friends Amphitheater, the Menzel Pavilion, and the Visitor Center Meeting Room.
