The Environmental Monitoring Station in Schmeeckle Reserve collects real-time environmental data for use in classes and research. Several environmental conditions are being monitored and recorded. Current and past data can be viewed as graphs and downloaded into tables for further processing.
View Environmental DataAccessing the Data
Real-time and past monitoring data can be accessed through the following web interface: https://schmeec1.uwsp.edu/vdv/
The web interface is run with a program called Vista Data Vision. The program updates a database every 10 minutes with new monitoring data and displays the information in graphs. Users can define the timeframe of data to view, and download the raw data as a text file for importing into another program.
Location
The Environmental Monitoring Station is a 30-foot (10-meter) tall tower located in a small woodland plot just southeast of the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center. Its location is indicated by the red pointer below. The GPS coordinates are: +44° 32′ 26.05″, -89° 33′ 51.73″.
