Forest related topics cover a wide array of information, which could be overwhelming to understand and teach. This framework divides forestry education into teachable concepts, and is organized ina manner that makes them easy to communicate. The framework is not a curriculum itself, but the structure around which activities and lessons in the K-12 Lesson Guide have been built. The framework is designed to evolve as forestry education evolves. We encourage educators to modify and add to this framework as curriculum is developed to best meet their needs.
Materials for all curriculum bundles are housed in google folders and resources can be downloaded, edited, shared, and printed. LEAF currently offers curriculum bundles for ‘Understanding Community Systems’ and ‘Forest Products.’
This page contains lessons for foresters who are looking for activities to use with students in the classroom or school forest. These lessons are not intended for K-12 classroom teachers. For K-12 classroom lessons view LEAF’s Curriculum Guides or Curriculum Bundles.
This “by teachers, for teachers” resource produced by LEAF brings together forestry course syllabi, curriculum maps, PowerPoint presentations, lessons, and other useful resources.
