At UW-Stevens Point, we offer specialized programs in wildlife ecology, fisheries and water resources, forestry, soil and waste resources, and environment and society. Our Paper Science and Chemical Engineering program also provides unique opportunities to innovate in the production of sustainable materials, focusing on renewable resources and environmentally responsible manufacturing.

The College of Natural Resources is located within the Daniel O. Trainer Natural Resources Building on the UW-Stevens Point campus.

Meet the CNR Dean

Brian Sloss is the current dean of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources. A native of Monmouth, Ill., he earned his bachelor’s degree in ecology, ethology, and evolution at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, master’s in biology from Western Illinois University, and his Ph.D. in zoology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

Brian joined UW-Stevens Point in 2002 as assistant unit leader of the Wisconsin Cooperative Fishery Research Unit, a partnership among the U.S. Geological Survey, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and UW-Stevens Point. While with the fishery research unit, he established the college’s Molecular Conservation Genetics Laboratory, which focused on applied genetic research in fisheries, wildlife, and other resources. The laboratory continues to partner with state, regional, and national agencies in Great Lakes and freshwater fisheries management efforts. In 2014, he became the CNR Associate Dean for Outreach and Extension, overseeing all outreach and extension activities within the College. He assumed the role of Dean in July of 2020. He lives with his wife and two sons in Plover, Wisconsin.
 

Meet the CNR Dean’s Team

The Dean’s Team for the College of Natural Resources provides administrative leadership and support for the college’s operations, programs, and strategic priorities. Working collaboratively across departments and campus partners, the team supports the college’s ongoing success and daily operations. The Dean’s Office is located in Room 100 of the Trainer Natural Resources Building.
