The music performance major offers University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students intensive training with a world-class faculty in state-of-the-art facilities. The program offers a solid core of music study including music theory/musicianship, music history and literature, applied performance study and large-ensemble participation.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE (bm) INSTRUMENTAL OPTION
This minimum 78 credit major is administered by the area of Music in the School of Performing Arts. Admission to the Department of Music as an undergraduate music major or minor is by audition only. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your first year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher’s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of that year. All majors must present a half recital in your junior year in your major instrument and give a senior recital.
music performance (bm) jazz studies option
This minimum 78 credit major is administered by the area of Music in the School of Performing Arts. Admission to the Department of Music as an undergraduate music major or minor is by audition only. Non-piano majors must complete level 100 in piano. Woodwind majors must demonstrate proficiency on two secondary instruments. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your first year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher’s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of that year. All majors must present a junior half recital and a senior recital.
music performance (bm) piano option
This minimum 78 credit major is administered by the area of Music in the School of Performing Arts. Admission to the Department of Music as an undergraduate music major or minor is by audition only. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your first year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher’s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of that year. music performance major (bm) vocal option
This minimum 86 credit major is administered by the area of Music in the School of Performing Arts. Admission to the Department of Music as an undergraduate music major or minor is by audition only. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your first year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher’s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of that year. All majors must present a half recital in your junior year in your major instrument and give a senior recital.

Founded in 1924, the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 637 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other music-related endeavors.
