Music Theory

The MME Music Theory Certificate at UW–Stevens Point helps music educators build essential skills in analysis, ear training and musical structure, providing a solid foundation for performance, composition, and teaching.

This 10 credit certificate is administered by the area of Music.

what to expect

You will study the history of music and its connections to current traditions in music education and performance. Students will also expand their repertoire and develop musicianship skills in applied music composition. A number of electives are also available to tailor the certificate to your goals as an educator and performer.

The Music Theory Graduate Certificate is open to students majoring in a graduate music degree.

National Association of Schools of Music

Founded in 1924, the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 637 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other music-related endeavors.
