Choral Music Education
The undergraduate Choral Music Certificate at UWSP prepares you to teach, conduct, and inspire through choral music. You will build the skills to shape dynamic choral experiences from the classroom to the concert stage.

This minimum 18 credit certificate is administered by the area of Music in the School of Performing Arts.
16-18 credits in:
Instrumental Music Instruction for Vocalists, 1 credit
Elementary School Choral Music Teaching Techniques, 2 credits
Secondary School Choral Music Teaching Techniques, 2 credits
Group Piano IV, 2 credits
Diction for Singers I, 1 credit
Diction for Singers II, 1 credit
Opera Workshop, 1-2 credits
Advanced Choral Conducting, 2 credits
Contemporary Vocal Pedagogies, 2-3 credits
Vocal Pedagogy, 2 credits
Instrumental Methods Elective, 2 credits in:
Instrumental Methods-Single Reeds, 2 credits
Instrumental Methods: Violin, Viola, Cello, and String Bass, 2 credits
Instrumental Methods: Percussion, 2 credits
Instrumental Methods-Brass, 2 credits
Instrumental Methods-Double Reeds and Flute, 2 credits
Or you may complete applied study up to the 200-level on any instrument.
Note
If percussion, piano, guitar, or a string or wind instrument is the primary major instrument (applied lessons up to the 300-level), completion of applied voice up to the 200-level is required, and MUED 158 is waived.
It is only open to students admitted to the Music Education major.

National Association of Schools of Music

Founded in 1924, the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 637 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other music-related endeavors.
The College of Fine Arts and Communication at UW-Stevens Point is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
