Renew Our Schools

Students Lead Real-world Change!
Renew Our Schools is a 6-week energy conservation competition that is offered to Wisconsin K-12 public and private schools in partnership with Focus on Energy. Students gain skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and civic responsibility while laying the groundwork for long-term energy awareness within the school community and beyond.

Renew Our Schools is a 6-week energy conservation competition that is offered to Wisconsin K-12 public and private schools in partnership with Focus on Energy. Competitions start in Fall and late Winter each year.

Small cohorts of similar-sized schools compete for cash prizes as teacher-led student teams implement energy actions in their school and monitor real-time electricity use of their school buildings with an eGauge energy datalogger that gets installed by a licensed electrician before the start of the competition.

KEEP supports participating schools by mailing professional-quality energy measurement tools to each participating school, coordinating a site visit from KEEP and Focus on Energy staff to the school to conduct a preliminary school energy audit, and providing ongoing support for teachers as they implement energy education lessons during the competition.
