The computer information systems program at UW-Stevens Point provides a rich academic training and practical experience in computer science. Computer majors receive training in core computing topics such as computer programming, systems analysis, network administration, and database development. Demand for big data expertise is booming. According to one estimate, by 2018 the United States could face a shortage of up to 190,000 people with deep analytical skills, as well as 1.5 million managers and analysts with the know-how to use the analysis of big data to make effective decisions. UW-Stevens Point is at the forefront of efforts to meet these workforce needs, offering Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics and Master of Science in Data Science programs.
