Oscar Neale Fellowship

Application Process

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Institution. Please note, however, that each scholarship describes specific qualifications that applicants must meet in order to be considered for an award.

Students interested in applying for scholarships must submit a completed School of Education Scholarship Application to 470 College of Professional Studies by the deadline, 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013. One confidential reference form completed by a university faculty, staff, or campus employer must also be submitted by the deadline. Late applications will not be considered.

Oscar Neale Biography for Oscar Neale Scholarship Applicant

Students studying abroad during the spring semester are encouraged to submit a scholarship application and essay. Students abroad should follow the "SOE Scholarship Directions for Students Studying Abroad."

 

Essay

When submitting the SOE Scholarship Application to 470 CPS, students will be asked to sign up for a time to write a Scholarship Essay. This essay must be written in person, during a designated time. Please review the times and dates available prior to submitting your application.

Essay Writing Times:
Tuesday, February 12 from 2-3 p.m.
Wednesday, February 13 from 3-4 p.m.
Wednesday, February 13 from 4-5 p.m.
Thursday, February 14 from 12-1 p.m.
Friday, February 15 from 9-10 a.m.
Friday, February 15 from 1-2 p.m.

Essay registration times are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited for each essay writing time. 

 

Selection Process

The School of Education Awards Committee will meet to select the award winners, using the following criteria:

  • Application information
  • Essay quality
  • Financial need
  • Reference quality
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average

Award winners will be notified the week of March 4, 2013, and will be invited to attend the School of Education Celebration of Teaching and Learning Reception on April 26, 2013. The winners receive the actual scholarship in the fall of 2013.
