Geography and Geology

Our program matches growing demand for professionals trained in a broad array of natural and social sciences. Faculty have training and interests in cartography, geographic information systems, climatology, environmental science, and cultural, economic and urban geography.

Political Science

Our students participate in campus and community politics and receive individual attention from faculty who teach small classes. We take a delegation each spring to participate in an international Model UN. Majors are well prepared for the workforce or graduate school for careers in politics, public administration, the law, advocacy, or international affairs.

Psychology

Faculty members have training within the major sub-disciplines of psychology: biological, clinical/counseling, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology. 83 percent of our majors are hired or enrolled in graduate school within a year. They graduate with sound research and writing skills, problem-solving skills and well-developed, higher-level thinking ability.

Sociology and Social Work

With a focus on enhancing human well-being, the social work program prepares students to employ systems, strengths-based, and empowerment approaches in serving individuals, families, groups, institutions, and communities. Students in social work and sociology are required to apply their knowledge and complete a field placement through our established partnerships.

STRENGTHEN YOUR COMMUNITY

Bringing together the disciplines of Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Political Science, Geography and Geology, the UW-Stevens Point School of Behavioral and Social Sciences prepares students for a wide variety of careers. Graduates of the school possess strong research and writing skills, are problem solvers, and have well-developed higher-level thinking ability. Our graduates are ready to make a difference in their communities, in human service agencies, healthcare providers, in school systems, and in government and law.
