Prescribed Fire for Forest Management Series

Fire and Deer

Jul. 9, 2025 | 10:30 A.M.-Noon CT

Prescribed fire is a primary tool managers use to improve white-tailed deer habitat, as fire influences cover, forage, and deer use depending on frequency and season. Dr. Craig Harper will discuss using fire to improve a property for deer, including considerations for fire prescriptions in various vegetation communities. Dr. Mark Turner will discuss the effects of prescribed fire on deer nutrition.
