Governor Evers and and Department of Workforce Development Secretary Pechacek Visit the WFC!

The Wisconsin Forestry Center and UWSP College of Natural Resources were honored to welcome Governor Tony Evers and Department of Workforce Development Secretary Amy Pechacek on campus on Monday, March 30!

Gov. Evers and Secretary Pechacek learned about the work accomplished by WFC’s $8 million state Workforce Innovation Grant and explored our training equipment, including our portable sawmill (pictured), portable wood kiln, equipment trailer, and Ponsse harvester simulator.

The visit featured an overview of workforce development efforts, from K-12 education to upskilling and reskilling within the industry, strengthening a sustainable and innovative natural resources workforce across Wisconsin. The Governor also met several faculty and students who recently participated in the Science of Tree Felling course.
