Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
The UW-Stevens Point Physical Therapy Clinic provides both diagnostic and intervention services for individuals with movement dysfunctions and musculoskeletal pain conditions. Doctor of Physical Therapy students, under the supervision of our licensed clinical staff, gain experience with both physical therapy assessment and intervention. Together our team will perform an examination and then provide treatment recommendations to improve movement, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
In most instances, clients receive a physical therapy examination, treatment recommendations, and 1 or 2 follow-up visits. If our staff believes that additional physical therapy would be beneficial, a recommendation will be made to pursue PT at another local PT clinic. Clients who do not have the ability to pay for PT services elsewhere may receive additional visits.

Health Update – Spring 2026
Face coverings are welcomed, but not required in the Physical Therapy Clinic. If you are feeling sick, please contact the clinic to reschedule your appointment. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days, are currently awaiting the results from a COVID-19 test, or have you been in close proximity to any individual who tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, please contact the USWP PT Clinic prior to your appointment by email or phone 715-346-2115.

Hours and Location
The clinic is open Monday-Thursday from 12-2 p.m. during the spring, summer and fall UWSP academic terms. The clinic is closed on university holidays and during intersession periods.
The clinic is located at the Stevens Point Area YMCA (1000 Division Street) to the right of the main entrance reception desk, just past the drop-in childcare center.
Y membership is NOT required to use the UWSP PT Clinic.

Clinic FAQs
Who can use the clinic’s services?
UWSP students, faculty, staff and members of the Stevens Point area community.
Do I need a referral for physical therapy from my doctor?
No, a referral for physical therapy is not required to access our services.
How does the UWSP PT Clinic differ from other PT clinics?
Our PT clinic was developed to enable UWSP DPT students to practice their clinical skills while serving the community. In most instances, clients receive a physical therapy examination, treatment recommendations, and 1 or 2 follow-up visits. If our staff believes that additional physical therapy would be beneficial, a recommendation will be made to pursue PT at another local PT clinic. Clients who do not have the ability to pay for PT services elsewhere may receive additional visits.
Will students be involved in my physical therapy appointments?
Yes. Multiple Doctor of Physical Therapy students participate in examinations and treatments. All appointments will be supervised by a member of the clinical faculty or a licensed PT from the community.
What do services cost?
There is no cost for appointments at the UWSP PT Clinic.
Do I need to bring or wear anything special to my appointment?
If you have a referral for physical therapy from another medical provider (e.g., your primary care provider), please bring that to your initial PT appointment. Please bring or wear shorts to the appointment if your problem involves your lower back, hip, thigh, knee, lower leg, ankle or foot. Women should bring or wear a sports bra for concerns that involve the shoulder, neck, mid-back or upper back. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first PT appointment to complete paperwork.
What is the clinic’s privacy policy?
The privacy of our client’s personal healthcare information is important to us, and we are committed to protecting it. We create confidential records of services you receive at the clinic to provide quality care and to comply with legal requirements.
