SEGREGATED FEES
Segregated Fees are assessed to all students for service, programs and facilities that support the mission of the UWSP. The fees are billed based on the number of credits taken, regardless of the modality of the course. Exceptions may apply for recipients of WI GI Bill, Study Abroad students, and those in certain per credit 100% online degree programs.
ADDITIONAL RATES AND FEES
ADMINISTRATIVE FEE
Be sure e-Bills are paid by the due dates. A finance charge of 1% per month (APR 12%) will appear on the students’ e-Bill each period in which the entire balance is not paid in full by the payment due date. Additionally, if full payment is not received by the payment due date on the first eBill of the term, a $75.00 administrative service fee will be assessed.
COLLEGE OF NATURAL RESOURCES MAJOR, OPTIONS, MINORS AND GRADUATE PROGRAMS
Each student carrying a CNR major (with the exception of Paper Science) will be charged $40/semester for the “CNR Fee Treehaven & CWES” to fund major renovations at the Treehaven and Central Wisconsin Environmental Station (CWES) Field Stations. This fee will be charged to CNR majors enrolled at UWSP each spring and fall semester.
DISTANCE EDUCATION FEE
Students registered for 100% online or virtual courses will be assessed a $50.00 per credit Distance Education Fee. This fee supports the infrastructure that makes online learning possible; expenses that are not covered by regular tuition including:
- Instructional design, instructor training, and media support
- Technology and instructional resource support for students in online programs
- Online extensions of student support
DEGREE COMPLETION FEE
A one-time fee that is assessed per degree level; Associate, Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate. This $80 fee is assessed to all students during the term in which they are to complete the credit requirements for a degree and have applied for graduation. This fee covers programming costs associated with commencement.
NEW STUDENT FEE
A one-time fee assessed on all new first year and transfer students’ student bill during their first term of enrollment. This $125 fee covers costs associated with student recruitment, new student orientation and programming.

REGISTRATION FEE
Students will be assessed a non-refundable $25.00 registration fee on your first electronic statement (e-Bill) of each term. This fee is to cover administrative costs incurred as a student moves through the registration process.
SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND WELLNESS ADDITIONAL TUITION
Beginning the Fall 2023 term and each term after, students enrolled in any CSD, HD, FCS, FN, HSW and/or MLS level 200, 300, and/or 400 course will be assessed an additional $32.68 per credit SHSW Additional Tuition charge. This additional tuition will support a new SHSW Student Success Center which will increase academic support, interprofessional activities, and opportunities for professional development and career preparation for SHSW students. Student Government Association at UWSP and the Board of Regents at UW-System approved this differential tuition increase.
SPECIAL COURSE AND CLASS FEES
Some courses require additional fees to cover the cost of materials and services beyond those usually provided. These fees are charged in addition to the tuition cost. These fees can be on all sections of a course or just on a specific section. Special course fees are non-refundable after the first week of class.
Course Fee: a fee that will apply to all class sections of the course within an identified term and session. If the fee needs to be changed or removed, a new Special Course Fee Request e-form is submitted to Modify Existing Fee or Remove Fee.
Class Fee: a fee that will apply to a specific class section of a course within a term and session. Any new class sections of the course will need a new Special Course Fee Request e-form submitted.
