More Than Words: How to Think About Writing in the Age of AI

Warner argues that writing is a fundamentally human act of thinking and feeling, making it inseparable from cognition and emotion—abilities not present in AI. Rather than depicting AI as an existential threat to writing instruction, Warner suggests that the real problem is poorly designed writing assignments, and offers actionable tips to improve writing instruction to eliminate the utility of “cheating” with AI.
