BOW Programs and Events

Events include weekend workshops and Beyond BOW offerings such as learn-to-hunt experiences, fishing clinics, shooting sports, archery, paddling, camping, outdoor cooking, navigation, and survival skills. Each program is structured to be approachable and skill-focused, giving you the opportunity to try new activities or deepen existing knowledge in a supportive setting. Whether you are looking for a single-day class or an immersive outdoor experience, BOW events provide a variety of ways to stay engaged, challenge yourself, and connect with others who share your interest in outdoor recreation.

August 15, 2026 (Rain date August 16)

Prescribed Fire for Land Management

Waupaca, Wisconsin

In cooperation with the Wisconsin Prescribed Fire Council, this hands-on workshop provides beginner-friendly training on using prescribed fire to restore and manage Wisconsin’s fire-adapted ecosystems. Participants will learn about fire ecology, safety, equipment, fire behavior, and crew operations while gaining practical skills to support prescribed burns in prairies and woodlands. Land managers will also gain insight into improving fire management practices on their own lands.

This program is limited to 24 participants.

Colors of Cusco and Short Inca Trail

Cusco, Peru

Experience the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes of Cusco on this women’s adventure featuring Machu Picchu, the Short Inca Trail, and the stunning Palcoyo Rainbow Mountains. This trip blends immersive cultural experiences with guided exploration of ancient Incan ruins, colorful highland scenery, and the iconic Machu Picchu, without multi-day trekking or camping.

Designed in partnership with GreenEdventures, it offers an accessible way to discover Peru’s most iconic destinations.

BOW Sampler Weekend

Rosholt, Wisconsin

A budget-friendly Becoming an Outdoors-Woman weekend in Rosholt, Wisconsin, offering a mix of classic and new outdoor skills in a relaxed, hands-on setting. Participants choose two classes from options including archery, Dutch oven cooking, pontoon boat fishing, an adventure challenge course, and nature journaling.

The weekend also includes group hikes, campfire activities, and shared meals designed to build skills, confidence, and community in the outdoors.

Fall BOW

Tomahawk, Wisconsin

Experience a fall Becoming an Outdoors-Woman weekend at Treehaven in northern Wisconsin, where women of all skill levels can explore hands-on outdoor learning in a beautiful autumn setting. Choose from a wide variety of classes such as hunting skills, archery, fishing, camping, and outdoor cooking, all led by experienced instructors in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

This immersive weekend is designed to help you build confidence, try new activities, and enjoy the outdoors during one of Wisconsin’s most scenic seasons.

November 1-6, 2026

Women’s Fire, Ice and Northern Lights

Iceland

Step into the wild side of Iceland on a winter adventure that’s filled with thrills, beauty, and unforgettable moments, all during a time when it looks like golden hour for most of the day.

Led by veteran BOW Instructor/Green Edventures tour leader Kelly VanLaanen, along with a local expert guide, this journey seamlessly combines adrenaline, culture, and connection. Flexible and weather-adaptable plans ensure every day brings something extraordinary.

Experience glacier hiking and ice climbing, a sparkling ice cave, ATV buggy off-road riding to view the Gullfoss Waterfall, the erupting magic of geysers, natural hot springs, and local geothermal pools under the dazzling northern lights.
