The health education minor is designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in teaching health to K-12th grade. The minor provides students with the content, practicum, and curriculum classes that are required for the state 910 add-on certification. Students who have the add-on certification will be certified to teach health for the age levels associated with their primary teaching license. This minor consists of at least 20-21 credits.

The School of Education offers a 100% online program for teachers licensed in Wisconsin who wish to complete the Wisconsin 910 Add-on certification in Health Education. UW-Stevens Point has been approved by the Department of Public Instruction to offer Health Education K-12th grade.

As of summer 2025, UW-Stevens Point is discontinuing the Health Information Management and Technology B.S. program and no longer admitting students. Interested students should visit Universities of Wisconsin Online Collaborative website.

The health science and wellness major provides you with broad skills and opportunities for a variety of careers within the health field. The interdisciplinary major will prepare you for the art of working with people and the science of health and disease.

The Pre-Athletic Training major provides foundational knowledge for the future health care professional and prepares you for admission to a graduate program to become a certified athletic trainer. Athletic trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals whose practice encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.

To be a part of this program, an associate or diploma degree in a clinical allied health discipline is required, such as dental hygienist, medical laboratory technician, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, paramedic, physical therapy assistant, radiography, respiratory therapist, and sonography.

The second step is completion of a master's degree in occupational therapy, which is the minimum degree required to get your license and become a practicing occupational therapist.

Choosing the pre-physical therapy option for your health science and wellness degree will help prepare you for admission to a graduate program offering the doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) which is required before you can become a licensed physical therapist.

The health science education certificate at UW-Stevens Point is awarded upon successful completion of a series of courses that center on competence and proficiency in teaching health science courses at the middle or high school level.
