DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS FOR STAGE AND SCREEN

The Acting Program offers comprehensive training in stage and screen acting for the students interested in a performance career. Acting Majors take classes that include acting (Meisner, Stanislavski Techniques), voice and articulation, period acting, improvisation, makeup, directing, acting for the camera, stage combat, dialects and theater history.

At At UW-Stevens Point you will have opportunities each year to perform in a variety of venues including Jenkins Theatre, our black box Studio Theatre. Yearly performance opportunities include: Contemporary theatre productions, classical theatre productions, Player’s student group performances and Master Classes with visiting artists.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Graduating seniors travel to New York City to audition for leading agents and casting directors in an exciting introduction to New York City and the professional world. The training our majors receive is excellent preparation for success in nationally ranked graduate programs. Summer internships opportunities include:

  • Repertory Theatres
  • Summer Theatre Festivals
  • Universal Studios
  • Disney

APPLICATION PROCESS

Admission to all Theatre and Dance programs (with the exception of Arts Management) is by audition/interview only. The Department of Theatre & Dance partners with Acceptd so you can view application, audition and interview detail, submit your application and materials online, and schedule the location and date of your audition/interview.

Founded in 1965, the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 192 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for theatre and theatre-related disciplines and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other theatre-related endeavors.
