Programs & Degrees

The School of Education offers a program for physical education teachers who wish to complete the Wisconsin 860 Add-On Certification in Adapted Physical Education. The program consists of a total of 13 credit hours* including coursework and practicum.

The Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) is a joint program with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Program participants acquire abilities to teach content both in English and another language (either Spanish or Hmong). You will only be awarded the certificate if you successfully complete the English as a Second Language Minor with K-12 Teacher Certification. The Bilingual-Bicultural Education Certificate is only a few additional credits to acquire. It is administered by the Department of World Languages and Literatures.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has proudly offered certifications in special education since 1972. The Cross Categorical Special Education (SPEC ED) Add-on Teacher Licensure/Certification provides opportunities for licensed teachers to gain valuable knowledge and experience working with special needs children from 5K through 12th grade.  

The Special Education Add-On Certification program provides opportunities for licensed teachers to gain valuable knowledge and experience and add a new license in Early Childhood Special Education (Birth through 3rd Grade) and/or Cross-Categorical Special Education (5 year old Kindergarten through 12th grade). Please apply below to obtain information regarding your individual requirements based previous courses that you have taken.

This newly approved license allows a teacher to teach 4-year old kindergarten through 9th grade. This program is only available for teachers already licensed to teach MC-EA ages 6-13 “Regular Education,” EC-MC ages 0-11 “Regular Education,” or grades 1-6, 1-8, K-6 or K-8. The accelerated elementary education licensure program is ideal for those who have a non-teaching bachelor’s degree and are either teaching elementary education with a license with stipulations (emergency license), or want a career change to impact students. This K-9 license allows the teacher to teach 4-year-old kindergarten through 9th grade, all core subjects.

At UW-Stevens Point, we have online, interactive classes that will provide opportunities for you to examine and enrich your personal and professional goals.

The family and consumer sciences (FCS) program is one of the largest offered in the country. Our program, which is approved by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) and provides coursework that meets the standards required for graduates to obtain the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation, offers two options: Child Life and Family Studies; Teacher Education.

UWSP offers an online graduate-level teaching licensure program in family and consumer sciences (FCS) that can also lead to a master’s degree in Community and Organizational Leadership or Education.

UW-Stevens Point offers an online add-on certification in Gifted and Talented Education. This nine-credit program is intended for currently licensed teachers seeking expertise and specialization in Gifted and Talented Education. 

The School of Education offers a 100% online program for teachers licensed in Wisconsin who wish to complete the Wisconsin 910 Add-on certification in Health Education. UW-Stevens Point has been approved by the Department of Public Instruction to offer Health Education K-12th grade.

Earning your reading specialist license will be a journey in which you can increase your own expertise, ground your thinking in research and dedicate time to shape your initiatives to improve learning for students, K-12th grade. 

Strengthen content literacy in the classroom by becoming a reading teaching. Collaborate with teachers and advocate for reading needs of all K-12th grade students with this add-on.

The program is offered 100% online. Students earn an initial teaching licensure/certification for Cross Categorical Special Education K-12th grade

The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
