SOFTWARE
KURZWEIL 3000
Reading software with many adjustable features. This program uses scanned text to make an image of the text appear on the screen and optical character recognition to turn the text into speech. This software will also act as a screen reader and allows you to type into the program. It has many additional features that are useful as study aids. There are two workstations in the AT lab with Kurzweil 3000.
To get started using Kurzweil Text-to-Voice reading program for reading your documents, papers, or web pages:

ZOOM TEXT
Screen magnifier and screen reader for students with visual impairments. Also allows for custom color schemes to enhance visual quality. This software is available on two computers in the AT lab.
WINDOWS 10 NARRATOR & MAGNIFIER
Screen reading software available on all computers with Windows 10. Go to: Start > Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access > Narrator.
All computers with Microsoft Windows 10 are equipped with a screen magnifier, along with other accessibility options. To access the magnifier, go to: Start > Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access > Magnifier.
DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING (PREMIERE)
This software is called “Voice Recognition” software. Once the user has programmed his or her voice into the computer workstation, it allows the user to use the computer verbally. This includes using menu commands and word processing. The user speaks into a microphone, and the words appear on the screen.
MAC COMPUTERS
These computers come with zoom and magnifier tools, as well as the screen reader VoiceOver.
SONOCENT
Audio note taking software. Record, type, insert PowerPoints and PDFs. Computer download, and it also works with an app on a phone or tablet.
