The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau serves as a cultural and meeting center for the Wausau region, offering art exhibits, lectures, musical and theatrical performances, community non-credit courses and facility rental. Wausau community members are also invited to participate in many of our performing arts ensembles.

UW Center for Civic Engagement

The UW Center for Civic Engagement building on the UW-Stevens Point at Wausau campus houses programs intended to serve not only local communities but the region and state as well. It’s home to The Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service and Wisconsin Public Radio.

Programs located in the UW Center for Civic Engagement are:

Public dialogue through the Kettering Foundation’s National Issues Forums and discussions on current important topics.
The building is intended to be the hub of outreach and public scholarship in:
  • Service learning for students to become involved in the community
  • Civic engagement aimed at building community on campus and throughout the area
  • Radio programming that provides intellectual stimulation and enlightening entertainment
  • Life-long learning through credit and non-credit instruction for ages youth through +55
  • A variety of production experiences, ranging from musical comedy to innovative contemporary drama, that link to the larger campus curriculum and make a valuable contribution to the broader community discussion of vital ideas and issues.

Connecting to the community is an important part of the UW-Stevens Point at Wausau mission.
For example, Teacher Connection is a way for our faculty to share their expertise and to support area K-12 students and teachers.

The faculty at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau, as members of the communities that support their campus, offer disciplinary and teaching expertise through Teacher Connection. Our professors are available to speak with your classes in a variety of formats and lengths. They may also be available to speak about careers related to their fields of study and their career journeys. To learn more, please contact them directly.

Unless otherwise noted, most presentations are intended for high school students. Teachers can contact individual professors to see if presentations could be tailored for other grade levels.
For schools more than 20 miles away from Wausau, it is best to arrange for a group of professors to come on a special day – our “Road Show Edition.” To make arrangements, contact our Career Coach Nick Schultz (nschultz@uwsp.edu). We are also happy to accommodate visits to our campus, with class sessions incorporated into the visit.

Need to schedule a meeting, workshop training session or a small conference?  We are happy to accommodate you with various sized meeting rooms and on-campus catering.

Facility Rental Fees

We charge a modest facility rental fee for all room usage on our campus to help us pay for the additional cost of maintenance and building upkeep. Prices subject to yearly updates. Current pricing will be included on room reservation confirmation at time of completion.

We also have various equipment available which can be rented to make your meetings and presentations run more smoothly. And a third-party – A Taste of Jamaica, LLC – operates out of our kitchen to provide on-campus catering.
