ABOUT DOWNTOWN

The Square

Downtown Stevens Point is the heart of our community and an extension of our university! It’s a short walk from campus and features local business like the Stevens Point Area Visitor’s Center, Assembly Shop, our Co-Op, and the longest running farmers market in the State of Wisconsin. Sitting along the Wisconsin River, our downtown includes Pfiffner Pioneer Park, home to some of the largest events in the Stevens Point community like the Riverfront Rendezvous, Pride and the Levitt AMP music series. At UW-Stevens Point, we encourage students to partake in community events, many of which happen right in our historic downtown.

Arts and Culture

We have a dynamic arts and culture scene in Stevens Point! From concerts and film festivals, to sculptures and murals, Stevens Point provides a lot of opportunities for our students to experience the arts in our community. Popular music festivals include the Riverfront Jazz Festival and Bluegrass in the Pines. Small concerts can be found at our area restaurant venues throughout the year. You can catch live performances at the @1800 Theater, Lettie Jensen Community Center Theater, or the Jenkins Theater by the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra or our very own theatre and dance program. For visual arts, art galleries, museums, painted trashcans and over 15 murals can be found throughout our community. The Stevens Point Sculpture Park is a 20-acre park featuring more than 30 sculptures by local, regional and national artists. This Park is connected to our Green Circle Trail and symbolizes the unique connection between nature and art. Installations continue to be created to beautify our city, but more importantly to make an impact and to represent our community through art.
