Details

Experience a day of dance at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point! If you’re a dancer between the ages of 13 and 18, join us to deepen your artistry and grow your technical skills. You’ll get to take two dance technique classes, participate in a choreography share, and connect with current students and fellow dancers. The event includes a discussion with UWSP performing arts students and a supper where you can network. The day concludes with an evening performance of Afterimages. We hope to see you there!​​

Instructors

Michael Estanich, Professor of Dance

Michael Estanich is a Professor of Dance and Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance at UW-Stevens Point. He teaches all levels modern dance, composition, movement analysis, and repertory. He earned his MFA from The Ohio State University and his BFA from Denison University. Michael’s creative work asserts value in a multidisciplinary approach, relying on movement, voice, sculpture, and dramaturgy to create intimate works of human folly. He formed RE|dance group (redancegroup.org) in 2009 with Chicago artist Lucy Vurusic Riner as a means to explore long distance collaboration. RE|dance group has presented work regionally, nationally, and internationally. Michael and Lucy have presented their research on the collaborative creative process at various conferences hosted by the National Dance Educator’s Organization. He is the resident choreographer and dance chair at Trollwood Performing Arts School in Moorhead, MN and serves on the Executive Board of the American College Dance Association (ACDA) as Vice President for Policy and Procedure.

Christopher Kaiser, Professor of Dance

Christopher Kaiser is an accomplished ballet artist and educator with experience at world-renowned institutions. He studied at The Juilliard School before receiving a contract with the Alberta Ballet. After three seasons of dancing in Canada, he finished his dancing career as a soloist with Oregon Ballet Theatre, where he had the privilege to perform works by William Forsythe, Ben Stevenson, and Nacho Duato. Currently pursuing an MFA in Dance at the University of Washington, Christopher combines a deep understanding of classical ballet and modern dance with innovative, student-centered teaching philosophies. His mission is to create a space where dancers can take ownership of their education and training while providing them with the necessary tools for success in the field and beyond.​

Kate Gomez Moore, Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance 

Kate Gomez Moore is a Visiting A​ssistant Professor of Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Coming to Wisconsin from Colorado, Kate is a dance artist and educator who interrogates genre and insists on humanity in her endeavors. Kate has been an active member of the environmental performing arts group Alpine Artist Collective for 5 years, producing, choreographing, and performing in several immersive site-specific performances across Colorado.

Kate ha​​s an MFA in Dance with a secondary emphasis in Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder and a BFA in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University. She has had the pleasure of performing works by Larry “Love” Southall, Constance Harris, Makini (jumatatu m. poe), Liz Lerman staged by Matthew Cumbie, Abby Zbikowski, Joy Atkins-Bollinger, Jordan Fuchs, Suki John, and Susan Douglas Roberts. During her time as a company member with T2 Dance Company, Kate performed works by Erin Tunbridge, Stewart/Owen Dance, and Rebecca McCormac, as well as premiering her own choreography for the company. She is an artist of our time, committed to sharing the intersection of dance forms in the Latin and Africanist diasporas, urban street scene, classical jazz, and contemporary.​

Cancellation Policy / Accommodations Statement

Youth Camps/Clinics (excluding Suzuki and Athletics):  

If cancellation occurs 42 days or more before the camp start date, registration costs (minus credit card fees) will be refunded.​

​If cancellation occurs 14–41 days before the camp start date, 50% of registration costs (minus credit card fees) will be refunded.

If cancellation occurs less than 14 days before the camp start date, registration costs are non-refundable.​

​Astronomy Camp reserves the right to send home, without refund, any camper who fails to behave in an appropriate manner or breaks any local/state/federal laws or camp regulations. ​​
