Central Wisconsin Voices

Wednesdays or Thursdays, February 4/5th – May 6/7th | 12-1:30 p.m. or 6:30-8 p.m.

Central Wisconsin Voices is a non-auditioned choral ensemble comprised of students and community members high school aged and older. All singers are welcome to join us regardless of skill or experience level. The ensemble performs a variety of choral music including traditional, Broadway, a capella, pop, and world music. Choir members can look forward to rehearsals filled with challenging, engaging, and joyful music-making. There is one concert per semester, and potential for other community engagement opportunities​.

Rehearsals are flexible with options on Thursdays from 6:30-8pm or Wednesdays from 12-1:30pm. Attend one of the options each week!

Instructor

Dr. Dana Carlson-Kottke

A passionate teacher, Dr. Dana Carlson-Kottke has experience teaching at the elementary school, middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult levels in the ensemble rehearsal, classroom setting, and private lesson environment. Working with a variety of genres at all levels, she strives to create a learning environment that is positive, individualized, challenging, and engaging. Previous teaching engagements include The Ohio State University, the University of South Dakota, Beloit College, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in a variety of roles from community outreach and engagement to Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice.  

Carlson-Kottke, soprano, has had the opportunity to sing in productions and concerts both in the United States and abroad including Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Prague. Recent engagements include the role of Mother (Hansel & Gretel) with both the Worthington Chamber Orchestra and The Ohio State University. Other operatic highlights include Belinda (Dido & Aeneas), Kate (Sweets by Kate), First Lady (Queen of the Night, world premiere), Adele and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore). As a recitalist, Carlson-Kottke is known to present performances with unique and thought-provoking themes intended to invite audiences to consider new perspectives. 

Carlson-Kottke is currently researching Icelandic song tradition and medieval performance practice; including the intersectionality of Icelandic literature in poetry and prose, oral tradition, and musical settings of Icelandic Saga texts while incorporating views on medieval and contemporary culture studies. 

Cancellation Policy

Refunds will be granted if the Continuing Education and Outreach office is contacted at least seven (7) days before the start of a class. No refunds will be given with less than seven (7) days notice. Programs that involve pre-ordering of materials and/or travel will not qualify for a refund unless your space can be filled from a waiting list. We reserve the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment, severe weather, or instructor illness. ​BE SURE to provide your email address and phone number when registering so we can contact you if a class is cancelled for any reason.
