Birthplace of Wellness

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is considered the birthplace of wellness, establishing the first college degree wellness program in the world. UW-Stevens Point became the first degree program in the U.S. to be accredited by the National Wellness Institute in 2010. The National Wellness Institute was founded at UW-Stevens Point and still maintains a close relationship with our academic program.

The UW-Stevens Point Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate is an Approved Health and Wellness Coach Training & Education Program by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). As a result, health and wellness coaches who have met NBHWC’s requirements and completed the UW-Stevens Point Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate Program will qualify to sit for the national exam to become a certified coach.
