Scholarship for Incoming First-Year Chemistry or Biochemistry Majors (Fall 2024)

Trytten Scholarship

Awarded to an outstanding high school senior entering UWSP in Fall 2024. The total amount of the award is $4,000 spread over four years. Guidelines and Application Form.

  • Bondeson Excellence in Research Scholarship – $500
    Created in memory of Stephen Bondeson, a 1974 UWSP graduate and form faculty member at UWSP (1980-2009). It is awarded to a chemistry or biochemistry junior who is involved in a research project at UWSP.
  • Hansen Memorial Scholarship – $2,500
    Created in honor of William C. Hansen, a 1911 UWSP graduate and 7th chancellor of UWSP (1940-1962). It is awarded to a deserving chemistry sophomore.   
  • Kaczmarek Scholarship – $2,500
    Provided for by an endowment from Gilbert J. Kaczmarek, a graduate of our department. It is awarded to a chemistry or biochemistry major for distinguished achievement in academics, leadership and a demonstrated potential for success as a chemist.
  • Thalacker-Trytten Scholarship – $5,500
    Provided for by an endowment from Victor Thalacker, a graduate of our department, in memory of his professor and mentor Roland Trytten. It is awarded to a high-achieving undergraduate student majoring in either Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Wisconsin Chemistry Student Scholarship – $500
    Established by an anonymous donor in 2008. It is presented to a deserving junior or senior chemistry major who resides in Wisconsin.

  • Bondeson Excellence in Research Scholarship – $500
    Created in memory of Stephen Bondeson, a 1974 UWSP graduate and form faculty member at UWSP (1980-2009). It is awarded to a chemistry or biochemistry junior who is involved in a research project at UWSP.

  • Kaczmarek Scholarship – $2,500
    Provided for by an endowment from Gilbert J. Kaczmarek, a graduate of our department. It is awarded to a chemistry or biochemistry major for distinguished achievement in academics, and leadership.

Awards

The Department of Chemistry administers 14 awards to recognize outstanding student performance in the chemistry curriculum. The recipient of each award is, in general, decided via a nomination and balloting process by the faculty of the department. Awards are presented annually in the later portion of the spring semester.
