Pointers Week

Pointers Week is your chance to make connections with fellow Pointers and gain tools needed for a purposeful college experience! Activities include:

• Meeting with your academic home – Get acclimated with faculty, staff, and student leaders within your college to make connections and set yourself up for success.
• Participating in convocation – Rooted in tradition, this kickoff event welcomes you to life as a Pointer. Every new student has the opportunity to touch the cupola to mark the start of your college experience. The next time you touch the cupola is during commencement.
• Finding your people – There are numerous events and activities to attend, participate in, and try out as you start your new journey at UW-Stevens Point. Here is your chance to take advantage of new opportunities.

The following events are mandatory for students to attend as part of orientation. Floor meeting locations will be posted throughout the hall on move in day. Students can expect their RAs to have schedules for walking to each of these sessions as a unit.

5:30-8 p.m: Engagement Fair at Skyward Fieldhouse

Additional things to do during Pointers Week:

• Get your textbooks – Bring your PointCard to the bookstore, located in the Dreyfus University Center. (For information on the bookstore, click here. For details on your PointCard, click here.)
• Find your classrooms – Connect with hall mates or new friends you’ve met during Pointers Week, and go explore! (For campus maps, click here.)
• Check out dining spots – Head to DeBot with your PointCard to get a meal. (For details on University Dining, click here.)
• Explore employment – Log on to CASEConnect to look for an on-campus job! Studies show that students who work 10-12 hours per week on campus do better academically and socially than those who don’t. (To access CASEConnect, click here.)
• Meet with your residence hall – If you are a residence hall student, attend your first floor meeting and get to know your hall mates. (For information on Housing and Residence Life, click here.)

UWSP at Marshfield Pointers Week Information

September 2 & 3– “Donut” be late to your first day of class! Need help finding a class? Our student Ambassadors will be available from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. in the crossroads! So, grab a donut and get assistance on where your classes are. 

September 4-“Pop-in” the Center for Inclusive Excellence for a bag of popcorn! 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m..  Come see the space and learn about upcoming events! 

September 5– Stop by for Coffee and Hot Cocoa in Solution Center and enter the drawing for a campus swag bag! 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 

September 10– 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Campus Welcome Day-Join us in the Commons Courtyard for food, games, and visit with UWSP Resource tables! (Lower Commons if inclement weather occurs).
