Join lunar observers from around the world in exploring the features of the moon in celebration of International Observe the Moon Night.
View unique features of the moon through our portable telescopes at the UW-Stevens Point Coleman Track, adjacent to Maria Drive, off Reserve Street. The moon will be the primary focus but there will also be views of Saturn, Jupiter and other deep sky objects such as nebulae, stellar clusters and galaxies, weather permitting. The first-quarter moon on the date offers excellent viewing opportunities along the terminator (the line between night and day), where shadows enhance the moon’s cratered landscape.
Explore the moon at home by viewing the livestream here. Have your own telescope? Check out the features on the NASA moon map.
