July 14, 5:30 – 8:30 pm, Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center

Learn how you can help monitor Wisconsin’s native bumble bees! All you need is a camera and a desire to learn. By becoming a volunteer for the Wisconsin Bumble Bee Brigade, you can contribute to a valuable body of data that helps support conservation of these important pollinators in our state. The Wisconsin Center for Wildlife is excited to host this evening workshop with the UW-Extension volunteer and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Bumble Bee Ambassador, Jennifer Lazewski!

Learn to Identify Wisconsin’s Bumble Bees!

July 14

5:30 – 8:30 pm
Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center

Free and open to all!

Bumble bees are some of the most visible pollinators in gardens and natural areas, and so much fun to watch! We can identify 20 species in Wisconsin by photographing their color patterns and other features. Enjoy learning more about them, and help us build Wisconsin’s participatory science database that also influences habitat management decisions. Learn more about bumble bees, how to support them with good native plant choices, how to identify them, and how to help science by submitting photos to the DNR Bumble Bee Brigade. We will spend some time indoors with a presentation before heading outdoors for some field work.

Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is preferred!
