Cornerstone Press will publish two nonfiction books on April 28, 2022.

Cornerstone Press, the student-staffed teaching press at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, will launch two new nonfiction books, a collection of essays and a hybrid memoir, on Thursday, April 28.

Cornerstone Press will release “The In-Between State” by Minnesota author Martha Lundin and “Body Talk” by Utah author Takwa Gordon at 6 p.m. Thursday via a Zoom webinar. A link to the webinar will be sent via email to attendees who sign up through Cornerstone Press’s Google Form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSffduFhShKB2xC4uHmtITv3Ynda26l1lA_JGskm_ZSQZGBFPA/viewform?usp=sf_link).

The event will feature a question-and-answer session with the authors and a roundtable discussion of their new books.

Both titles are part of the Back Home Series and are currently available for pre-order at www.uwsp.edu/cornerstone, and during the launch on April 28. For more information, visit @uwspcornerstonepress on Facebook.

“I found ‘The In-Between State’ to have a lot of powerful essays told through Martha’s memories,” Editorial Director Grace Dahl said. “Their writing beautifully conveys their experiences in a way I hope all their readers will enjoy.”

“’Body Talk’ is a powerful, gripping and emotional collection,” said Managing Editor Brett Hill. “Gordon brings it all to the table here, showcasing her talent as a poet and artist, and giving readers an intimate look into some very real issues.”

With several new titles being released each semester, students gain industry experience working with writers from all over the United States.

Cornerstone Press, established in 1984, is made up primarily of students in the English: Writing, Editing, and Publishing major and writing minors offered at UW-Stevens Point. It operates with the support of the English Department and is directed by Ross Tangedal, assistant professor of English and press publisher. Students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of publishing, from acquisitions to marketing the finished product, with courses highlighting editing, design and management.
