Schmeeckle Reserve is hosting the 2022 Spring Candlelight Hike Festival on May 6.

The popular Candlelight Hike Festival will return to Schmeeckle Reserve at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point this spring.

The event will be held Friday, May 6, from 7-9:30 p.m. This year’s festival theme is “Schmeeckle: The Musical.” UW-Stevens Point students will present brief programs and skits and lead craft stations in and around the Visitor Center. It is open to the public, free of charge, but donations are appreciated.

The community is welcome to explore several torch-lit trail loops throughout the reserve. Visitors also will have the opportunity to roast marshmallows around a campfire and explore family-friendly hands-on activities throughout the evening.

Parking is available near the reserve’s Visitor Center, 2419 North Point Drive, Stevens Point.

Schmeeckle Reserve is a 280-acre nature reserve on the UW-Stevens Point campus, open to the public from sunrise to sunset. The reserve includes five miles of trails and boardwalks, a 24-acre lake, gift shop, Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame and museum and a large diversity of habitats that support numerous wildlife species. Facilities are also available for rent. Learn more at www.uwsp.edu/schmeeckle.
