Honor Orchestra Festival

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Department of Music is proud to announce the UW-Stevens Point Honor Orchestra Festival which will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 in the Noel Fine Arts Center on the UW-Stevens Point campus. This festival will give high school string players a variety of opportunities to work and interact with the students and faculty of UW-Stevens Point including a string orchestra made up of some of the finest high school musicians in the state of Wisconsin, individual instrument masterclasses, and group social activities. The event will culminate in an informal performance by the Honor Orchestra for parents, friends, and family. The festival should be a valuable experience for any high school student who is interested in majoring in music performance or music education.

8:30 -9 a.m. –   Registration/Check-In

9 a.m.  – Welcome & Performance by UWSP Symphony Orchestra

9:30 a.m. – Honor Orchestra Rehearsal

10:15 a.m. – Clinic with UW-Stevens Point String Faculty

11:30 a.m. - Chamber music performance by UWSP faculty

Noon – Lunch @ Dreyfus Student Center (provided)

1:00 p.m. – Honor Orchestra Rehearsal

3 p.m. – Honor Orchestra Sound Check Rehearsal

3:30 p.m. – Q & A with UW-Stevens Point Faculty & Students

4 p.m. – Honor Orchestra Performance (free and open to the public, friends and relatives encouraged to attend)

Directions
Highway 66 from the West:
  • Follow Highway 66 east (Clark Street) through four traffic lights
  • Proceed one more block from the Division Street intersection (Business Hwy 51) to Phillips St.
  • Turn left on Phillips Street
  • Park in Lot R
 
Interstate 39 from the East/North/South:
  • Take the Business Hwy 51 Exit from I-39 (Exit #161)
  • Follow Business Hwy 51(Division St.) through 3 traffic lights
  • Turn left on Portage Street
  • Park in Lot Y, or Lot R
Highway 66 from the East: 
  • Follow Highway 66 west (Main Street) through seven traffic lights
  • Proceed four more blocks from the Michigan Avenue intersection to Phillips Street
  • Turn right on Phillips Street
  • Park in Lot R
