Bio

Serena Kamps grew up as a Suzuki kid in a musical family. She began harp lessons by videotape with Mary Kay Waddington at the age of three and attended the American Suzuki Institute in Stevens Point, WI every summer. At age ten, her mom began driving her four-and-a-half hours one way every other week to study in person with Elinor Niemisto at Luther College in Decorah, IA. This would continue for the next six years until Serena began studies with Ann Lobotzke in Milwaukee.

Serena holds a Diploma in Harp Performance from the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of music. She began teaching as an independent instructor while still a teenager and completed Book 1 Suzuki Harp Teacher Training in 2010. She finished Book 2 training two years later. In 2015, she joined the Oshkosh Suzuki Music Program bringing harp as an offering to the program for the first time since its inception. A year later, she accepted the position of Suzuki Harp Instructor at the Aber Suzuki Center in Stevens Point and continues to teach in both locations.
