Cayla Cavey Bio As a long-time resident of Wisconsin, I have a deep appreciation for the state’s outstanding water resources. I have a background in water chemistry and biology that began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. As a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, I led a long-term monitoring project of two sub-watersheds within the context of a comprehensive adaptive management project to meet state discharge compliance for phosphorus and total suspended sediment. My professional experience includes analytical water testing of drinking and surface water samples, science communication, limnological research, and data analysis and interpretation. I believe that effective, engaging science communication and education are key to the betterment of local communities and water resources and am glad to serve communities throughout Wisconsin in the Groundwater Education Specialist role. In my role I assist rural landowners and communities in assessing the quality and safety of their private wells. These efforts not only empower individuals to manage their water supply and drinking water but also contribute to local and state efforts to better manage our collective groundwater resources.
