Funding Resources

Graduate Assistantships

  • A graduate assistantship is funded by either the University or through extramural funding. A graduate assistant has duties related to helping with a course or working on a research project. Generally, assistantships are awarded to students upon acceptance into the program. Contact your graduate adviser or the Graduate Coordinator if you have questions about assistantships.

Student Research Funding

  • The Office of Student Creativity and Research (OSCAR) offers two types of funding--one for performing research or a creative activity and one for travel for students to present their research, scholarship, or creative activities at professional meetings or conferences. Students may earn up to $1,500 per research project performance with a limit of $3,000 per student. Travel funds are available to offset travel costs with a maximum of $1,600 available during a student's career

Scholarships

  • The College of Natural Resources distributes approximately 150 scholarships totaling $125,000 to CNR undergraduate and graduate students on an annual basis. The criteria for many of the scholarships are based on the county of residence, financial need, major area of study, and campus involvement. One application qualifies students to be considered for all CNR scholarships awarded. Please view the CNR Scholarship page for more information on the College's and other scholarships available through UW-Stevens Point:  http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/Pages/CNRScholarships.aspx
