Sustainable Commuting During Earth Week | The Office of Sustainability

  • The Office of Sustainability is encouraging students, staff, and faculty to embrace the Earth Week Theme “Healthy Planet, Healthy Pointers” and commute to campus either by walking, biking, taking public transportation, carpooling, or other sustainable ways of commuting.

  • Peak into the big life of Wisconsin’s smallest bird: the Ruby-throated Hummingbird! Make a hummingbird feeder and learn about our feathered friends! Please dress for weather.

  • Join 350 for an educational film screening and Q&A with someone who was in the film!

  • Join WiNR for an unwinding mental health walk as you recharge in the nature offered by schmeekle reserve!

5 p.m. | Garden workday and Seed Germination | Campus Garden, 1716 Franklin Street | Students for sustainability

  • Help be sustainable and care for the campus gardens. Assist with laying mulch and compost, learn about seed germination and get free seeds to start your own garden!

  • Ephemeral ponds are ecosystems that pull a disappearing act. Walk with us as we dive into what forms these temporary ponds and why they are vital to amphibians and other wildlife. Please dress for weather.

  • Do you find inspiration in nature? If you enjoy writing, reading a good poem, or just spending time outside, come along to bridge the gap between words and wonder via an interactive, poetry-filled hike around Schmeeckle. Please dress for weather.
