The copper redhorse (Moxostoma hubbsi) is an endangered fish that is endemic to Quebec. There are only two known spawning sites for this species, both located in the Richelieu river near Montreal. In this study, we used an in situ riverside exposure to investigate whether pesticides present in the river during the spawning season are impacting this species at larval stages. We observed transcriptomic and organismal level effects in the larvae that may be associated with pesticides detected in the river.

Jessica Head is an Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Her research program explores molecular determinants of sensitivity to environmental contaminants in early life stages of fish and birds.
