Personal Story
Serena began harp studies with Mary Kay Waddington at the age of three. She has also studied with Eleanor Niemisto at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and, most recently, with Ann Lobotzke, second harpist with Milwaukee Symphony. Serena holds a Diploma in Harp Performance from the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music and is principal harpist with Oshkosh Symphony. In addition, she has played with the Wausau and Wood County Symphonies as well as Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Serena performs regularly in solo recitals and also enjoys performing in chamber ensembles with her five siblings and at her church. She was the second place winner of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra's Young Artists Competition and had the honor of soloing with that orchestra in 2009. She twice received honorable mention in Milwaukee Symphony's Young Artist Competition and performed side-by-side with that orchestra. Serena studied piano from the age of five through high school and still enjoys accompanying and playing for fun. Serena is an avid aviation enthusiast who holds a Private Pilot's license and also enjoys biking, hiking and exploring the great outdoors at Wisconsin's State Parks.
