January 1st - New FAFSA is Available
Next year's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA
) is available online. File your FAFSA as soon as you complete your federal taxes.
February (late) - Award Letters to Incoming Freshmen
The Financial Aid Office begins sending and emailing award letters to incoming freshmen.
March 15 - Priority Date for Filing the FAFSA
Applicants should submit their FAFSA data on or before March 15 to be considered in the initial awarding process.
April 15th - Tax Deadline
The tax deadline with the IRS is April 15th. Keep copies of your tax documents as they may be needed by the Financial Aid Office.
May - Award Letters to Continuing Students
Financial Aid Award letters for the upcoming summer, fall, and spring are emailed to continuing students who are also FAFSA applicants.
May 1st - UWSP Financial Aid Application Deadline Date
Although we have no real deadline date as financial aid applications continue to be processed on a weekly basis throughout the year, it is important to complete all application requirements prior to May 1st preceding the award year. After this date, some funds that you might have been eligible to receive may be depleted.
August - Direct Loan Certification and School Bill
Direct loan certifications for Subsidized and Unsubsidized Direct Loan borrowers are transmitted. University billing statements for fall are sent from the university's business office with the payment plan information.
September (early) - Credit and Refund
Fall financial aid is credited to your account and any refunds will be available within a day or two. You may sign up for direct deposit on your myPoint.
January (mid) - Credit and Refund
Spring financial aid is credited to your account and any refunds will be available within a day or two. You may sign up for direct deposit on your myPoint.
