Aber Suzuki Center to hold open house

Introduce your child to playing an instrument during a free open house at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Aber Suzuki Center next month.

Held Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum Learning Landing Room, the event will begin with an instrument "petting zoo." Children may try playing a cello, flute, harp, guitar and voice, then listen to a performance by current Suzuki students at 11 a.m.

A short informational session and question-and-answer period will follow about the Suzuki philosophy and program offerings. Parents of infants and children up to four years old may attend a demonstration of the Suzuki Early Childhood Education program at 10:15, 10:45, 11:15 and 11:45 a.m.

Faculty members will be available throughout the morning to answer questions, or stop by the registration table for information. Anyone who registers for lessons at the open house will get a $50 tuition rebate for spring lessons. A $99 certificate for four 20-minute lessons will also be available to those who want to "try out" music lessons.
