Point Tap Festival to celebrate its third year

Tap dancers of all abilities will gather at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for the third year in a row for the Point Tap Festival, August 9-11.

Registration is now open for the Thursday through Saturday event, which will be led by internationally renowned faculty including Josh Hilberman, Lynn Schwab, Thelma Goldberg, Mark Yonally, Jeannie Hill and Brandi Coleman. Options range from the full festival at $350, a half festival at $225 and single class registrations for $29. Early-bird discounts of $50 are offered for the full and half festival registrations if received by June 1.

“These faculty members are excited to return to Stevens Point for the tap festival,” states Jeannie Hill, associate professor of theatre and dance at UW-Stevens Point and the festival’s director. “We also have an option again for the Saturday Mini-Fest, which was very popular last year for participants who are unable to attend during the work week. It is open level, which means that you don’t even need tap experience to participate.”

This year’s event will again end with a faculty festival show at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, in the Noel Fine Arts Center Studio (Room 136). The public is invited to attend and may purchase tickets for $12 per person or at the door for $15.
