For the first time in more than 30 years, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will have a new vice chancellor for business affairs.

As Vice Chancellor Greg Diemer prepares to retire June 30, his successor has been selected. Kristen Hendrickson, who has 14 years of experience with the UW System, will assume the role.

Hendrickson currently serves as executive director of Administrative Support and Knowledge Center and director of budget and resource planning at UW-Eau Claire for the past three years. She has also worked at UW-River Falls, UW System in Madison and Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois, in budget, strategic planning, research and policy analysis roles.

"Kristen is an excellent fit to carry forward the positive, collaborative leadership style we've come to expect in this role at UW-Stevens Point," said Chancellor Bernie Patterson. "She has effectively addressed financial challenges each of our UW System institutions have had to face."

The vice chancellor for business affairs leads about 160 full-time employees in a division that includes Facility Services, Financial Operations, Budget and Planning, Human Resources, Capital Planning and Budget, Risk Management, Sustainability, Parking Services and Protective Services. As chief financial officer of the university, Hendrickson will be responsible for UW-Stevens Point's $219 million operating budget. She will report to the chancellor and serve on his executive team.

"I was very impressed with everyone I met at UW-Stevens Point and enjoyed the feeling of community and collegiality. I'm excited to join the team and help the campus address its challenges and meet its goals," she said.

Hendrickson is finishing her doctorate in higher education administration at Illinois State University. She holds a master's degree in history from the University of South Florida and bachelor's in international affairs at Florida State University.
