The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been named
a Military Friendly School® for the
seventh consecutive year.
The 2017 list of
schools was published by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM
JobsSM and Military Spouse. This
recognition is based on colleges, universities and trade schools’ support and
academic program offerings for veterans and on feedback from student veterans.
also received the UW VETS Certification. This honor is given for surveying and
responding to student veteran needs, establishing a campus steering committee
on veterans’ issues, providing tailored orientation programming, providing
training to faculty and staff on veterans’ issues and resources, providing
appropriate internal and external counseling and related resources and
establishing a Resource Center where student veterans can congregate and access
programs and services. Chancellor Bernie Patterson received
a plaque acknowledging these efforts at today’s UW System Board of Regents’
National Guard members,
reservists and military dependents are enrolled at UW-Stevens Point, said Ann
Whipp, coordinator of Veterans Services. UW-Stevens Point’s faculty, staff and
students demonstrate openness, care and concern for veterans’ academic and
emotional health, helping them readjust to the civilian community and academic
pursuits, she said.
