UW-Stevens Point choirs to feature a variety of music

Three choirs will combine as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Music Department presents the Fall Choral Collage on Friday, Oct. 13.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center. It will include the Women's Choir, conducted by Lecturer James A. Carpenter and the Concert Choir and Choral Union, conducted by Professor Lucinda Thayer. Piano accompaniment will be provided by Mary Ellen Mitchell.

The Women's Choir will perform the Quaker hymn "How Can I Keep From Singing?" the Croatian folk song "Polegala," and two Swedish folk songs.

The Concert Choir will perform the traditional Irish song "Dúlamán," selections from "Five Flower Songs" by Benjamin Britten and "All of Us" from "Considering Matthew Shepard" by Craig Hella Johnson.

The Choral Union will perform three traditional songs, "Oh, What a Beautiful City," "Bright Morning Stars" and "John the Revelator." 

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.
